The "Crazy in Love" Fallacy
In our culture, we have normalized a terrifying script for modern romance. We watch movies, listen to music, and laugh at memes that celebrate the woman who "recks her man's life" out of passion. We use euphemisms like "spicy," "feisty," or "crazy in love" to coat what is actually a devastating reality.
Let's drop the flowery language and speak with Chapter 40+ clarity: Some women are bullying their partners and calling it love.
When a man is mentally abusive, manipulative, or physically aggressive, we rightfully sound the alarm. But when a woman exhibits those exact same behaviors, it is often excused as the natural byproduct of a woman who just "loves too hard."
We watch women use sex as a weapon of leverage, withhold affection as a tool of punishment, and use innocent children as pawns in an emotional chess match, all while declaring, "I only do this because I love him so much."
But love is not a weapon of destruction. And if your version of connection requires you to fracture a man’s peace to ensure his presence, you are not operating in love. You are operating in a profound state of unhealed insecurity.
The Scriptural Standard of Security
When we look at the divine design for relationships, there is absolutely no room for manipulation. Scripture doesn't just define what love is; it explicitly outlines what love does not do.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5 reminds us: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." Bullying is, by its very nature, self-seeking and proud. It dishonors the partner to elevate the ego of the controller.
Proverbs 21:19 states it bluntly: "Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife." A relationship should be a sanctuary, a safe harbor, not a battlefield where a man has to walk on eggshells to avoid the next landmine.
Jesus never manipulated people into submission. Even in His divinity, He respected human free will. If the Savior of the world does not use emotional coercion to keep us close, why do we think we have the right to use it to keep a man?
The Anatomy of Female Control
To heal this, women must have the courage to look into the mirror and recognize the signs of a controlling spirit within themselves:
The Weaponization of Access: If you only grant peace, intimacy, or cooperation when he complies with your demands, you are running a dictatorship, not a partnership.
The Hostage Mentality: Believing that "if I make him feel small enough, he’ll never think he can find anyone else." This is a trauma response that project’s one’s own fear of abandonment onto the partner.
The Sovereign Complex: Believing that because you are the woman, your emotional outbursts, reckless words, or physical aggression are exempt from accountability.
If this message is convicting you, do not run from it. Let the truth do its surgery:
Heal the Fear: Control is always the illegitimate child of fear. You are trying to control the outcome because you are terrified of being rejected or abandoned. Address the root wound so you can stop bleeding on your partner.
Repent of the Power Trip: True power does not require the submission of another human being. A secure woman doesn't need to dominate a man; she knows how to walk with him.
Apologize without the "But": If you have been toxic, own it. Don't say, "I’m sorry I yelled, BUT you made me do it." Humanity requires absolute accountability.
A real queen does not need to decapitate her king to keep the crown.
If you love your partner, your goal should be his wholeness, not his compliance. Let’s lay down the weapons of manipulation, the reckless tongues, and the pawns of control. You deserve a love that feels safe, and so does he.
Let’s stop building fortresses out of other people's peace and start doing the internal renovation required to build a genuine, healthy covenant.
